DIY: 3 Hair Masks My Mother Swears By

Beauty, grannyhacks, Hair

I am not going to write a long intro, ’cause I know no one really reads all of that jazz.

So here are 3 amazing hair masks!

1) Fenugreek seed,  also known as Methi Seeds, you should be able to find it in your local Indian Spice Store. Massaging your head every week with fenugreek seeds soaked overnight in water can be an excellent remedy for thinning of hair and hair fall. It also is brilliant to get rid of dandruff.

You will need:

1 cup or half Fenugreek seeds,

1 and a half cup water

Soak them overnight, the next morning they will be very soft. Drain the water and blend them with coconut oil or olive oil ( not more than 1tbsp.) Apply it on your hair and let it settle for 30 mins. Rinse with water and wash your hair with shampoo the next day.

2) Go Bananas with this Banana Mask:

This one should help make your hair shine and prevent split ends. 🙂 For this you will need:

1 really ripe Banana, (2 if you have long hair)

2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil or Olive Oil ( again depending on your hair length)

3 Tbsp. Honey

Make a paste of the above mentioned ingredients, make sure there are no banana chunks, otherwise you will combing small banana pieces from your hair. Anyway, slather the paste into your hair. Let it settle for at least 15-20 mins and then rinse with warm water. It’s entirely up to you, if you want to shampoo. However, I suggest you don’t.

Yogurt has a lot of vitamins and it’s not only great for losing weight but also for your scalp. It moisturises your scalp and controls grease.

You will need:

Plain Yogurt (quantity depends on your hair length and volume)

1 Tbsp. Olive Oil or 1 Tbsp. Honey

3 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix your ingredients in a bowl, and apply it on your hair. Let it sit for 15 mins and rinse with warm water, then wash your hair with shampoo ( preferably something natural)

Hope these help you achieve your hair goals! 🙂

Hair Care Tips For Healthy Happy Hair

Essentials, Fashion, Hair

It’s not hard for your hair to look fabulous every day. You don’t have to be lucky to have a good hair day everyday. People don’t realise that they can damage their, if they don’t take care of it like they should.  I was born with naturally straight hair ( thank you, mom and dad!), but I remember my mother putting a lot of smelly things on it too. She would put so much on my hair every week and I kid you not, they were so long and beautiful and healthy. Then I got into the habit of cutting and colouring them, and well.. they are just not the same( The story of most of us).

I will post another article on Hair Masks, which I use. 🙂

With these Tips you can rejuvenate your damaged hair, and I promise you if you follow it religiously IT WILL WORK.

1) Don’t wash your hair every day:

Yes, there is no need to wash your hair everyday. Wash it every alternative day. Use dry shampoo when your hair starts getting oily. If you don’t want to spend money, then use Talcum Powder. Sprinkle it on the roots only and then after 2-3 minutes brush your hair so it doesn’t look white. All through 4 years of high school, I did this. No one suspected a thing 😉

2) Baking Soda:

I recently started using this and ILOVEIT!

Baking soda is not only very cheap but also wonderful. It’s used for teeth whitening and if you put some of it in your shampoo, your scalp feels very refreshing and your hair gains its natural glow.  I started doing it about 2 weeks ago, and my hair feels great.

3) Conditioner:

Let me be honest here, I hate conditioning my hair. I feel like it’s a lot of work and I am just lazy. But after I got Ombré  done, my hair obviously damaged from bleach and so I started conditioning. My trick here is to not condition the whole head. Before you shampoo, take some conditioner and put it on coloured hair, and then go ahead and shampoo your scalp. 🙂

If you don’t want to buy a conditioner, take some Mayonnaise and put it on the ends.

Every week at least once pick a day and put oil ( preferably coconut or olive oil) on your hair. Massage for a good 30 minutes, and wash.

Oiling is great for your hair. Because we use so much product and heat on our hair, our hair tends to become weak and loses its natural oils. So oiling helps bring our hair back to life.

5) For dandruff:

I suffer from dandruff and I hate it. With this trick I was able to control it. It is still there but I am hoping eventually it will finish. So what I do is 30 mins before I am about to take a shower, I put apple cider vinegar on the roots with a cotton ball.

5 tbsp. of water followed by 5 tbsp. of Apple cider vinegar

and then shampoo your hair with baking soda. It works wonders. Seriously.

6) Towel Dry Your Hair:

I can’t stress on this one enough. Yes, it is tempting to blow dry your hair, but the heat from the dryer damages our hair a lot. If you’re in a hurry, at least use a heat protectant. However, I don’t really think they work but they are made for some purpose, so I guess they must be doing something ?

7) Don’t brush wet hair:

Lastly, when your hair is wet and you try to brush it to get rid of the tangles you actually break the hair. Always dry your hair first before you brush them. Always always always brush your hair before going to bed.

Happy Hair, Happy You! 🙂

Clothing Items every woman needs in her closet!

Fashion, trends

This post basically talks about important clothing items every woman needs in her closet. I go by the rule of buying once and buying good. Spend your money like you’re investing. Let’s say you spend 100$ on a pair of leather jacket which will last you longer because it’s of good quality rather than buying a jacket that costs about 20$ and will most definitely tear after a few wears.

My clothing essentials:

1) Leather Jacket ( obviously):

This one goes without saying, you can style it with basically everything and it looks so DAMN HOT!! Whether you’re going for a casual, street or a sexy look. Every woman should own a good leather jacket.

Tip: Make sure it’s well fitted. DO NOT buy “M” if you’re clearly “S” or vice versa. Don’t buy the first one you see, try on a few different jackets before you pay for the one. You wouldn’t want to spend money on something that you’ll later regret.

2) Black Blazer:

This is a life saver. It’s great for both formal and informal wear. You can style it with a jump suit, denim or a suit. You’ll look hot, ALWAYS.

3) Bold Colors:

Accessorize yourself with bold colors, if you’re bored with the nudes or blacks. It’s an awesome way to stand out and look gorgeous!

I always try to wear either a very bright-colored shirt or shoes, if they don’t go with my outfit, i try to wear a statement necklace.

4) A comfortable Outfit:

It could be anything! Yes, that’s right. ANYTHING! I have a pair of shorts that fit me perfectly, they were actually my jeans that I cut into shorts. They are so comfortable and it’s so darn easy to pair them with any shirt/blouse.

Tip: make sure it’s not nothing. lol.

Belts are awesome! They are a great way to accentuate your waist if you’re wearing something oversize. Even if you’re just wearing an XL/boyfriend button-down, you can tie a belt around your waist line, preferably above and pair it with leather boots, a watch, curls and you’re good to go. Very summery!

6) Button-down

Yes, always have a couple of nice cheap and expensive button down shirts. You can wear it formally or informally.

Women tend to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive denim but they fail to make sure if they fit them or not. My mother is a great example of it. She is a size 8 UK and she always always always purchases size 10UK! Then she comes back home and complains about her denim not fitting her right! (we live in Saudi Arabia, there are no fitting rooms here)

Try your at least 3 sizes to make sure if you’re investing in the right one. Also, stop being so stupid and buying 200$ jeans, H&M denim is very affordable. However, it may be a bit difficult to find your length.

A pair of ripped off jeans is a must too. Distressed jeans are very in and cost a lot of money, my tip is to take an old pair of jeans and distress it yourself. 😉

8) Little Black Dress:

Every woman needs a little black dress, it goes with everything and makes you look slim and chic and hot and sexy and good and omg everything!

If you’re going all armani, dkny or chanel, good for you. But if you’re broke like me, invest in something that looks like it’s expensive, even if it’s not. If your perfect black dress has belt holes on the side, tear them. They are there only to hold the cheap belt that comes with it. You don’t need either. Make sure, it’s your size. If you’re heavy on the chest, don’t buy something that is strapless. Trust me, It’s not appealing. But if that’s your only option, make sure you have a nice jacket that looks good wear that on top of it. If you have big arms, don’t go sleeveless, buy something half or 3-4th sleeves. It looks very good and shows you know what looks great with your body. If you have a bit of a thigh problem, don’t buy something too short, make sure it’s till your knees.

Tip: Don’t overdo your makeup, if you’re over accessorising.

Hello world!

My name is Alishba, I live in Saudi Arabia. I was watching tv and depressing over the fact that I didn’t have enough opportunities to do anything in Saudi Arabia and suddenly a thought hit me. “Why don’t I blog?”, I thought. And well, here I am.

There are plenty of beauty gurus out there in the real world and I have nothing against them, but let’s be honest not everyone has thousands of dollars in their bank account to spend on make up and beauty treatments. I will be sharing some awesome DIY’s and home remedies for a better us. I am a very lazy person and so they are all very suitable for lazy people.
